Why we built
Dashivo.
We went looking for a dash cam that did everything we needed, and kept coming up short. The good ones were expensive. Many were missing features we cared about: a real police stop mode, a body cam you can wear, clear time, speed and location on every frame. And too many sent our footage to servers overseas, with little say in where it went or who could see it.

The moments that matter
At the same time, we kept thinking about the moments that matter most on the road. A traffic stop. A collision. A reckless driver who can cause danger, and expensive damage, in a second and then drive off. In those moments it's often one person's word against another's. A clear, independent record protects everyone: drivers, passengers and officers alike.

The camera you carry
So we built it into the one camera almost everyone already carries: your phone. Dashivo turns it into a dash cam and a body cam, with a one-tap police stop, stamped evidence and footage that stays yours.

Who we are
Angry Owl Labs LLC is an American company, formed in Colorado and run in the United States. We respect the law and the people who enforce it, and we believe accountability should work both ways. Privacy and security aren't features we add later; they're how we build. Without a Cloud plan, your recordings never leave your phone. When Cloud arrives, it's end-to-end encrypted, so not even we can watch it.

Why recording matters
Most encounters with the public go fine. The ones that don't are exactly when memories differ, stress takes over and it becomes your word against someone else's. A calm, continuous recording settles what happened, for everyone involved.

Research points the same way. In a yearlong trial in Rialto, California, police shifts with body cameras saw about half the use of force and far fewer complaints than shifts without them (National Institute of Justice). Later, larger studies found smaller effects, but the lesson holds: when everyone knows there's a record, facts settle disputes. Record calmly, don't interfere, follow lawful instructions, and check the recording laws where you are.
Your footage, your choice
You decide where your recordings live. Here's what we recommend, in order.

Keep it yourself Our first recommendation
Your recordings live on your phone. Copy the ones that matter to a USB-C drive (Android), your own computer or, soon, the Dashivo Hub hidden in your car. Footage you hold yourself can't be deleted by anyone else, and any request for it has to come to you.

Your own cloud
Already pay for a cloud backup? Save clips to Photos or your Gallery and let it back them up. On iCloud, turn on Advanced Data Protection so your photos and videos are end-to-end encrypted and only your devices can read them.

Dashivo Cloud Coming soon
For when you're worried that a person or an event could destroy your footage right when you need it most. Clips are encrypted on your phone before they leave it, so we store only data we can't read.
Why we'd rather not hold your footage
We designed Dashivo so your footage doesn't need us. What we don't hold, we can't lose, can't see and can't hand over. When data sits with a company, authorities can request it from that company, and the owner may only be told months later. Footage you keep yourself means any request comes to you, so you decide, with a lawyer if you need one. And if you choose Dashivo Cloud, your clips are encrypted before they leave your phone, so the only thing we could ever hand over is data nobody can read without your devices.

Your footage stays yours. It stays on your phone and goes only where you send it. No account is needed to record.

You choose where it lives. Your phone, your own drives, your own cloud or ours. Our first recommendation is always to keep it yourself.

A record nobody at the scene can delete. Save clips off the phone today. The Dashivo Hub and Dashivo Cloud, both coming soon, keep a copy nobody at the scene can reach.

Honest about what's built. Every feature is labeled: in the app today, or coming soon. The changelog says when each one shipped.
